San Carlos region has been studied because of its rain and its geology, which make it adequate for the development of hydroelectrical projects.

Refugio de la Doña has the appropiate facilities for this development, that takes advantage of the potential provided by Quebrada Frío and San Rafael rivers.

Setecoop Consultores report the possibility of building two hydroelectrical plants.  Quebrada Frío with 220 kW of electrical production, and San Rafael with 1.7 MW.

Besides, an additional study can provide further information on thermal resources.
